

The rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira is far from over. Even after losing three combat bouts against Pereira, ‘The Sylebender’ is still not done with him. He recently attended the World MMA Awards and met up with former UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira who is currently Alex Pereira‘s coach.
A video was posted on Adesanya‘s YouTube Channel, which showed the former middleweight champion sharing a few words with Teixeira. Both fighters were respectful towards each other. But ‘Izzy’ let his thoughts known. “It’s still war, we’re not done. You already know. No, not now, like it’s still war but always respect… And I like your story visa issues, all that kind of s*** coming through, so congrats,” said Adesanya.

Glover Teixeira smiled and talked about the amount of money UFC fighters make nowadays and added, “It’s always a war with you.” Adesanya was on an undefeated run in the middleweight category before losing to Alex Pereira at UFC 281. Seeing how Izzy mentioned war, it is clear that he isn’t done with Pereira. His only other loss came against Jan Blachowicz, who was a former light heavyweight champion in the UFC.
Israel Adesanya wins the best gym award at World MMA Awards
Apart from the friendly encounter with the former Brazilian mixed martial artist, it was a momentous night for ‘The Stylebender’. The former middleweight champion was presented with the ‘Best Gym’ award with Dan Hooker at the World MMA Awards ceremony. They both train at the City Boxing gym at Auckland, New Zealand.

The past few years have seen the City Boxing gym take giant leaps as it maintains an incredible list of fighters including Dan Hooker, Israel Adesanya, Alexander Volkanovski, and Kai-Kara France. France recently rose to #3 rank in the flyweight category while Volkanovski is currently the reigning UFC featherweight champion.

It will be interesting to see if City Boxing gym can maintain its reputation as the most exciting gym, keeping in mind the exciting upcoming fights in 2023.
