Conor McGregor is coming back into the UFC. The superstar is set to make a comeback in The Ultimate Fighter season 31. ‘McG’ will be seen as a coach against Michael Chandler. This will be the first time fans will see the Irishman in the UFC after UFC 264. McGregor suffered a horrible leg injury fighting Dustin Poirier and had to go be stretchered out of the cage. Fans have been waiting for the Irishman’s return ever since and are happy to see him back. In addition, Conor McGregor will face Michael Chandler in the cage at some point in 2023.

While the fight is almost lined up, opinions about the weight class of the fight were ripe. Conor McGregor has recovered well from the injury. He appears in top shape and considerably bigger than earlier. Speculations were made that McGregor will be fighting in the 170 lbs welterweight division.

UFC legend had problems with Conor McGregor fighting at 170lbs

While Dana White has now confirmed talking to Pat McAfee that the fight will be at 155 lbs. There was a strong opinion from fans who were speculating the fight to be held at 170 lbs. Chael Sonnen has expressed his opinions on the McGregor vs Chandler weight-class debate.

Talking about the Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight ‘The American Gangster’ said, I have a big problem and I have always had a big problem with Connor and Chandler fighting at 170. Because it feels lazy to me and not only does it feel lazy I’m quite sure that I’m right would you like to work hard and go 155 would you like to work hard but not as hard and go 170.” Bisping was talking on his YouTube channel which has over 1 million subscribers.

Sonnen felt Going at 170 lbs could have been a mistake for McGregor

Sonnen was of the opinion that it would have been a mistake if ‘McG’ would have gone at 170. He added, “It’s kind of a straightforward question and I also thought it was a mistake for Conor to say 170 only in this regard, okay he’s bigger than he’s ever been.”

Continuing on the same, the 29-14 record holder mentioned, “We understand that so why would he want to go all the way down but what he’s missing I’m talking about McGregor he’s not doing two days he’s not in training camp he’s not going to be that big for long it’s going to come back down.”

Conor McGregor is one of the biggest crowd-pullers in the UFC. Dana White must be happy after ‘The Notorious’s comeback to the UFC was confirmed. Fans will expect the charismatic Irish to take charge of the lightweight division and get a title shot soon.
