UFC commentator Joe Rogan has a character trait that makes him entertaining- his curiosity. The 55-year-old has never ceased to be curious about things or get fascinated by them. As such, he is a repository of a lot of random facts. Many of these make their way to his popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, and add to its entertainment value. Therefore, it may come as a surprise that Rogan is not a big advocate for video games. That’s right. The world’s leading podcaster reins his fascination and curiosity when it comes to video games, and for good reason.

The gaming industry has grown exponentially in recent years. Experts estimated the gaming industry to be worth around 200 million USD at the end of 2022. So why does Rogan, a man who has always been vocal about technology, restrict himself when it comes to video games?
Joe Rogan and video games
In episode #1926 of JRE, Rogan hosted comedians, Matt McCusker and Shane Gillis. During their conversations, the 55-year-old explained why he abstained from video games. Apparently, it has to do with another one of Rogan’s character traits.
Talking about video games, the JRE host said, “Dude, if I played games man, I’d have a f***ing problem. Jamie can tell you. I have a problem. I get psychotically obsessed and I’ll play 8-10 hours a day and it’ll f**k up my life and I’ll look pale like a vampire.”

Funnily enough, the BJJ black belt also recounted an instance when he used to play video games. He said, “I was playing Quake. I would play all-night long, man. I’ve installed a T1 line in my house. Back when I couldn’t get uh… good internet because I was living in the mountains. I was like ‘what can you do?'”
Rogan also explicitly stated that he was not at all against video games. He said, “They’re f***ing great. I love them. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not an anti-video game person. I f***ing love them but I know for me, they’re too fun.”
Rogan on the drawbacks of video games
Back in 2020, in episode #1514 of JRE, Rogan went berserk on the drawbacks of video games. For the most part, Rogan had the same opinion. He admitted they were too fun. However, the former ‘Fear Factor’ host said that video games did not get you anywhere.

As an example, Rogan said that if you did Jiu-Jitsu, you would move up in skill over the years. Eventually, you might even consider opening your own school. He observed the same did not apply to video games. You would be the same person you were when you started playing video games.
Nevertheless, Rogan has not failed to give what is due to the technological marvel behind video games. He once spoke about his excitement with the 2018 ‘God Of War’ game‘s graphics and characters.
