“It’s a Fact”: Despite Labeling Jon Jones as “Undefeated”, Dana White Reveals One Aspect Where the UFC Champ Could “Accomplish More”

After UFC 285, fans widely considered Jon Jones the greatest of all time. When Jones came back to the UFC octagon after a hiatus of three long years, the ring rust didn’t affect the former light heavyweight champion one bit. He came back to face the mighty Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight title. Within two minutes and four seconds into the first round, ‘Bones’ submitted Gane in a guillotine choke. Jones came back to a completely new division and had a seemingly effortless victory. It did not surprise some of the ardent fans of the American fighter, as he has proven his greatness in the past as well.
Bones was the greatest fighter in the light heavyweight division who has achieved some glorious victories against tough opponents. At the moment, UFC president Dana White acknowledges the greatness of Jones. White calls Jones “undefeated” and later justifies the single loss faced by ‘Bones’ in his fighting career. However, he further added that Jones could have achieved more heights outside the UFC octagon.
Dana White opens up about Jon Jones’ fighting career

The UFC boss was talking in an interview with TSN. During the conversation, he detailed the greatness of Bones. He said, “I don’t think that he could have accomplished more inside the octagon. I think that he could have accomplished more outside the octagon. I mean, if you look at the run, this guy’s undefeated, you know.”

He further justified the loss Jones faced in his fighting career. White added, “I mean the thing that drives me crazy is that one on his record from an incompetent referee that shouldn’t have been in there that I couldn’t stop talking about, the fact that he shouldn’t have been in there referring fights and hate to keep, you know smashing this guy but it’s a fact.” White believed that Jones was the greatest fighter who deserved an undefeated record in his fighting career.

The one loss of Jones’ fighting career
Jon Jones became the two-time UFC light heavyweight champion. Bones reigned as the light heavyweight king from March 2011 to April 2015. He once again earned his belt in December 2018 and remained the champion until August 2020. Jones currently has a record of 27 victories and one loss. His loss drives White crazy, as he thinks Jones does not deserve the loss. Back in 2009, the American fighter locked horns with Matt Hamill.

Jones dominated the entire fight, and he began to land several elbows on Hamill. The then referee Steve Mazzagatti ruled Jones’ move illegal and declared Hamil the victor.
