Jan Blachowicz will defend his light-heavyweight belt against Israel Adesanya at UFC 259, as the latter is looking to create history by becoming one of the very few men to achieve the simultaneous two-division champion status in the UFC. ‘The Last Stylebender’ is certainly one of the greatest strikers to ever compete in the UFC.
Blachowicz, though, seems to have some surprises up in his sleeves for his title defense this weekend at UFC 259. He will look to use his superior power and strength against a more agile and accurate striker in Adesanya. The 205lbs division champion will be looking to mix up his wrestling and striking to upset the middleweight champion.
“It is a good matchup for me, I’m an underdog like always but I don’t care. When I win this fight, I prove to people that I deserve respect. A lot of people still don’t believe in me,” said Blachowicz.

“At 205 we have different power, different timing, everything is different, We will see how he will fight at 205. He will be faster than me, but speed is not everything. I have something for him, I am preparing something nice for him,” he added.
“If I have a chance to take him down I will do it. I watched the fight in kickboxing where he got knocked out many times. I will use my striking to knock him out. It’s part of my game plan but you will have to wait until to see the fight. He will feel the Legendary Polish Power, I promise you.” Blachowicz added further. (h/t BJPENN.com)

Blachowicz captured the belt at UFC 253 when he knocked out Dominick Reyes. The power in his strikes is extreme, and if he connects, he can knock anybody out. However, Adesanya’s control of reach and distance is unique and the Polish champion has to overcome that hurdle.
Here, his wrestling accolades can play a big factor, as Blachowicz is not only a striker. He has knockout prowess, but it’s his wrestling that opens up those opportunities in many cases. He is more than capable of taking Adesanya into deep water on the ground. That is one aspect many claim that ‘Stylebender’ hasn’t proved himself enough on.

Coming up against a complete fighter like the light-heavyweight champion can certainly play a big factor. But, it’s hard to dismiss what ‘Stylebender‘ has achieved inside the Octagon in such a short time frame. He is undefeated with a 20-0 record and is the current 185lbs champion. So, it won’t be an easy task for Blachowicz.
