Joe Rogan’s Opinion Makes NFL Legend Tag MMA as the Most Dangerous Sport- “Micro Concussions”

The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, hosted by UFC commentator Joe Rogan, is arguably one of the, if not the most popular podcast in the world. Rogan invites people from all walks of life as guests in one of the recent podcasts, Rogan was joined by NFL superstar, Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers, playing a high-contact sport himself, isn’t a stranger to suffering injuries and concussions from time to time. And Rogan being a martial artist himself, knows the effects of contact sports firsthand. Here is what the two had to say about their different sports and the risks involved.

In episode #2099 of the JRE, Rogan made comparisons of the dangers in both sports. He went on to explain how there might be similar injuries faced by players in both respected sports, even going as far as to claim that football might even be a little more dangerous.

Rogan then agreed with Rodgers, as he stated, “Yeah, fighting is more dangerous, but not necessarily. You know, for overall impacts that kind of impacts.” Which is true given all the “Micro concussions” faced by fighters while training.

Rogan then reveals the damages that fighters endure even just in training, as he told Rodgers, “I would imagine just the sparring and training that’s the thing that people don’t really take into consideration how many times guys get hit in the head training. Depending on what gym they’re from and how the gym operates. Some guys they go really hard in the gym.”

Just at the start of the new year of 2023, a fellow MMA fighter from Conor McGregor’s team suffered a gruesome injury that brought an end to his career.

Ryan Curtis suffers career-ending injury

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Curtis’ wife, Leah McCourt talked about the injury that led to her husband’s severe injury. It was revealed that during training camp, his training partner allegedly dumped Curtis on his head as his hand was stuck in the body lock, which prevented him from cushioning the landing. Curtis was reported to have shattered his vertebrae.

Curtis’ partner stated, “It basically smashed his vertebrae completely… the surgeon said the trauma that happened to his spine and his spinal cord and his vertebrae is that something you’d see from a severe car crash or you falling from the like of a balcony.”

The MMA community was saddened to hear the news, and the community had even helped the MMA fighter by providing funds for the treatment, with McGregor donating a whopping £25,000.
