Jon Jones, Dustin Poirier and Other MMA Pros Pay Tribute to UFC Make-Up Artist Suzy Friton’s Tragic Demise

Long-time UFC employee Suzy Friton passed away on Thursday after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Suzy Friton was the lead wardrobe technician, make-up artist, and stylist for the UFC and was associated with the company since 2006.

Her presence was primarily felt by the ring-card girls, announcers, and the fighters who competed on several UFC programming such as ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and Dana White’s Contender Series. Chiefly, her battle with cancer was long-drawn and had gone through several phases before taking a fatal turn on Thursday.

Her woes were brought to the forefront back in July 2021 when a GoFundMe was started to help financially sustain her during her trying time. Many fighters on the UFC roster stepped up and also made sure to spread the word of her condition.

Future UFC Hall of Famer, Jon Jones took to social media and shared two consecutive posts in the aftermath of Friton’s passing. ‘Bones’ clearly had a lasting bond with the make-up artist and was bereaved by her passing.

He put up a touching video and said that his grandchildren would find said video on his page and appreciate the kind of woman Suzy Friton was.

Several notable fighters like Cris Cyborg and Dustin Poirier also made sure to pay tribute to Suzy Friton following her unfortunate demise. It’s clear that her impact was far-reaching and not limited to a single bracket of personnel within the organization. Through the social media postings, fans in the MMA community have also got a better idea as to Friton’s place in the sport.

As mentioned earlier, Suzy Friton was heavily involved in getting the production team ready for the UFC broadcast every night. Play-by-Play commentator, Jon Anik took to social media and shared several selfie pictures with the make-up artist and elucidated his relationship with her in detail. Former UFC commentator Mike Goldberg also shared a social media post to pay his respects.
