Two-time UFC title challenger Jorge Masvidal is returning to action later this year. UFC president Dana White recently announced that Masvidal would face Gilbert Burns in the welterweight co-main event at UFC 287. The card headlined by the rematch between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira for the middleweight title will go down on April 8. Despite all the exciting news surrounding the UFC 287 card, fans still don’t know the location of the event. However, a recent leak from the famed UFC war room confirmed that Masvidal might have his return fight at a location he requested.
Hailing from Miami, Florida, Jorge Masvidal last fought in front of his hometown at UFC 261 in April 2021. Unfortunately for ‘Gamebred’, he lost the fight as Kamaru Usman knocked him out to retain the UFC welterweight title.

Now, with his highly anticipated return fight rumored to be in Miami, the UFC’s one and only BMF did not refrain from stating his desire. During his recent appearance on ‘The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, the 38-year-old spoke his mind on the matter.

Will Jorge Masvidal get his wish about the UFC 287 location
Towards the end of their conversation, Helwani wished Masvidal the best for his comeback and hoped to see him fight in Miami. In response, ‘Street Jesus’ said, “It has to be in Miami… Let’s go man. It has to be in Miami.”
The location details for UFC 287 are still unclear. While there are names being thrown around, there have been no official announcements. Meanwhile, one eagle-eyed fan spotted a detail that showed Masvidal might get his wish after all.

A recent tweet showed a snap of the UFC war room. In the picture, the details for UFC 287 are also visible. The magnified image shows both Miami and New York are potential locations for UFC 287. Several news articles over the past few days have also suggested that the event will go down either in Miami or in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Additionally, Dana White also hinted at Miami as a location. He responded with two fist bump emojis to one fan who said, “Don’t fold on Miami please uncle Dana”, under one of his recent Instagram posts.

Update: According to a recent announcement from UFC president Dana White, UFC 287 will go down in Miami. It looks like White did not let down that one fan and Masvidal will get his wish.

Masvidal will look to shake off his three-fight losing streak against Burns. Considering Burns’ current momentum, a win over him could set Masvidal on a road to the title as well. What better way to kick things off other than in front of his hometown crowd?
