Neil Magny recently won his 27th MMA career bout and 20th win in the UFC against Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs Lemos. The 36-fight veteran has seen a lot of victories and losses in his prolonged career however, no other win would have left sweeter than stopping the ‘D-rod’ hype train.

The UFC set the fight as the co-main event of the evening. Rodriguez entered the fight as the favorite to win, moreover, he was riding high on a four-fight winning streak. However, in Magny’s case, he had recently gotten beaten by Shavkat Rakhmanov. Therefore, this fight felt like Mangy was being fed to another upcoming prospect to build his resume.

Nevertheless, the results were completely opposite of what the majority had expected. 

The Haitian Sensation stood up again D-Rod for most of the time while constantly threatening him with takedowns. Magny was successful in landing five of his seven attempts at the TD. Meanwhile, it was the ultimate round of the fight that saw Magny lock the D’arce choke and get the submission.

Magny’s victory marked his 20th UFC win and the 27th professional win. It was also his 4th win by submission, however his first by the means of a D’arce choke. For Magny fans, it was a delightful moment to see the vet take a nod. Moreover, on the list of people who were happy for Magny, there was also a UFC welterweight who had faced Rodriguez previously.

Post the fight, the Chinese welterweight prospect uploaded a picture of Magny with his hand raised on his Instagram. In the caption of the picture, Jingjiang wrote, “Great Fight @neil_magny170! I watched till the very end to make sure the judges didn’t make the ref raise D-Rod’s hand.” The sarcastic post saw Magny react to the post as well. He commented “Thank you” with two laughing emojis.

The post was referring to the last bout of the Leech he had against D-rod. Moreover, he was on the losing end of a very controversial scorecard. Meanwhile, the majority of the fans thought the Chinese had won, the judges had it the other way around. Therefore, this post, despite being funny, had a bit of saltiness added to it.
