UFC veteran Max Holloway will return to the Octagon this weekend in Kansas City at UFC on ESPN 44 against Arnold Allen. It will be almost nine months since his last fight, which was a third loss to featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. Despite his loss to the ‘Great’, Hollway still believes that he’s a better fighter than the Aussie champion.

Holloway has found himself in a predicament after winning just two of his last five UFC fights. He will be taking on a much younger fighter in Arnold Allen, who is still undefeated in the UFC. Allen is also on a 10-fight winning streak at the moment.

Max Holloway believes that he’s a better fighter than Alexander Volkanovski

When ESPN’s Brett Okamoto asked Holloway if he still thinks is better than ‘The Great’ Volkanovski, he found the question amusing. He asked, “What kind of question is that?” ‘Blessed’ replied in the affirmative and said, “Like yes, I do believe that I’m a better fighter than Alex Volkanovski. If I didn’t believe I was a better fighter than him, then why am I fighting in the same weight class of the guy?”

‘Blessed’ ridiculed the question by stating that he is still a featherweight fighter, which would not be the case if he thought Alexander Volkanovski was better than him. Hollway believes that when a fighter thinks that there is someone else better than him or her, they should not be fighting at all.

“Of course, they are going to say because once we start saying like, ‘No’, once you get that acceptance that ‘this guy might be better than me’, then you don’t belong,” said Max Holloway.

Holloway clearly mentioned that his aim was to be the best version of himself as an MMA fighter. The upcoming fight against Arnold Allen will most likely decide the trajectory of Hollway’s UFC career. Even Alexander Volkanovski shared the same sentiment. It won’t be an easy challenge since Allen has proved to be a tough opponent in the featherweight division.
