You just know it’s going to be a good episode when Joe Rogan has Michael Bisping on his podcast. With one of the best listeners and the best talkers in the game, these two brainstorm ideas and ongoings in the UFC like no other.

In the most recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ Rogan and Bisping sat down to discuss the ongoings in MMA and UFC. During the conversation, title fights, dominant fighters, and various other paradigms of the fight game were discussed.

As usual, Conor McGregor is the one name that always pops up in an MMA conversation more often than not. In a discussion about title fights and the capacity to buy everything that money can, Bisping made a rather very real and grounded statement about why he respects the Irishman despite their occasional fallouts.

Michael Bisping on McGregor’s title shot return

As we know, Islam Makhachev was likely to get a title shot if he beat Beneil Dariush. Due to the latter’s injury, Makhachev fought Bobby Green at catchweight instead. Despite his win, as of now, Makhachev might not be on track to a title shot after all. This could very well set up the Irishman’s entry.

Discussing McGregor’s return, and how he respects him, on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience, Bisping said the following. “Listen, and you’ve got to respect this about him. We don’t have a good relationship but got to respect this about him. He loves the fight game, you know what I mean? And I respect that about him. I really do. So that’s something, that’s the only thing that he can’t buy, right?”

He further added, “I mean the guy can buy whatever he wants, right? He’s buying yachts and this and that, god bless him. But you can’t buy the UFC championship of the world. That’s the only thing he can’t buy. So he’s got no choice to go and fight for it, and he’s still choosing to do that. You have to respect that, to be honest.”

Conor McGregor has single-handedly led an expansion era for the UFC on an exponential scale. It’s not as if he’s yesterday’s news. True, his skill and hunger may not be the same as they once used to be. But his talent for getting swathes of people to the arena and skyrocketing PPVs is still unmatched.

With that being said, Dana White loves a good money fight. The greater the exposure for the UFC, the better it is for rising prospects to gain recognition.
