The UFC is currently in talks with the former UFC double champ, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor, and former Bellator champion, ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler for a fight at UFC 302. However, the twist comes in the weight class they plan to fight at. Though it is yet to be confirmed, according to McGregor, ostensibly the UFC is planning to set the fight at a weight class higher than the fighters are unfamiliar with.

Conor McGregor, in the announcement of the fight, revealed that the fight would take place at 185 lbs. Though the reason for the fight being at a higher weight class is still unknown, Michael Chandler claimed that fighting at 185 doesn’t bother him and only gives him the upper hand. He even went as far as to make a bold prediction for the fight.

In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, when asked if fighting at 185 would benefit Chandler and not cause any hindrance, Chandler replied, “100% MAN Yeah, because you know, going from 190 to 155, there’s a little bit of muscle mass that you lose, there’s a little bit of, you know, wear and tear on the body, the organs in the dehydration and just the constant fatigue for 12 weeks straight of taking your body from a certain point down to a certain point.”

Chandler went on to claim that he was ready for whatever weight McGregor and his team wished to fight for. He further stated that he was comfortable with the weight, given he wasn’t coming in too heavy.

‘Iron’ stated that he looks forward to the fight at any given weight. He goes on to predict how the fight would end, asserting, “I’ve done nothing but envision knocking Conor out within the first two rounds for the last 13 months. So I’m ready to do it.”

Michael Chandler had put on incredible performances every time he stepped inside the octagon. However, how would that change when he fights at 185lbs? A former UFC champ gave his take on the intriguing matchup.

Henry Cejudo, in one of his YouTube videos, gave his take on the possible Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler fight at UFC 302. Cejudo believes that McGregor would have the upper hand, given that he has been carrying all the weight for longer. The Triple C gives the example of Patricio Pitbull vs. Chandler, where he got caught with a shot blitzing in.

He goes on to credit the left-hand of McGregor saying, “I think it might be an advantage for Conor a little bit, just because he’s already had that weight stacked up… Conor doesn’t have to cut maybe he could just really just focus in on power…. I mean, take your chances with that with that infamous right(left) hand.”
