Dana White’s power slap league has been mired in controversy right from the get-go. To add to the disappointment, after getting bashed online by fans and even fighters, new figures have revealed how the show has tanked after a surprise jump in viewership last week. But the league, headed by the UFC President, seems to have found support in an unlikely UFC fighter. Light heavyweight Anthony Smith recently, while speaking on a show, came out and showed his excitement for the sport. This fresh revelation from Smith comes at a time when the league is headed to its grand finals in March. His comments also drew the attention of none other than Nate Diaz, who, with just one line of tweet, displayed his disdain for the league.

Anthony Smith’s newfound admiration for the league evidently came as a surprise for fans, with some even calling it his worst take. Not surprisingly, it also earned the ire of Diaz, who didn’t waste any time in bashing the 34-year-old. In classic Diaz style, the younger Diaz brother called out Smith in a tweet, Anthony Smith is a dumbf**k.”

Diaz’s response comes at a time when the Power Slap League is headed to its grand finals to be held on March 11th. As per various reports, there are also talks of the finals going live on PPV. Quite a surprise, considering that the show has not been able to garner any solid interest since its first episode. But, Anthony Smith clearly is not one to stay away from the PPV. During the show, Smith displayed his excitement, going as far as to claim he doesn’t care about the PPV price.

Quite a revelation from Smith, expressing how he connects to the leagues’ athletes. But one can never be sure if it’s just promotional activities on the UFC‘s part as they head into the league’s grand finals, or if it’s Smith genuinely sharing his admiration for the new sport. But one thing’s for certain, Nate Diaz clearly is not a fan of Dana White’s new project.
