MMA fans are known for their unfiltered and vocal responses to the fights, and the recent BFKC match between Marcus Brimage and Trevor Loken was no different. Marcus Brimage, the man who stepped into the octagon as the first opponent of Conor McGregor during his UFC debut, is back in the spotlight. The former UFC fighter may have had a decent run in MMA, but the former fighter has recently hit a rough patch. Moreover, the 37-year-old has bid his final adieu to the world of mixed martial arts and will be focusing solely on his BKFC career. Having said that, ‘The Bama Beast’ is having it rough in that domain, too. Having said that, during his interview with BJ Penn, Marcus Brimage made an official announcement of his retirement. The justification he has provided, nevertheless, is not quite what one might have anticipated from him.

MMA is too much work

Marcus Brimage has decided to call it quits on his MMA career, citing that the sport is too demanding for him. He believes that the intense training, constant commitment, and dedication required in MMA is something that he was not willing to give. During his interview, Brimage was asked if he will ever reconsider coming back to MMA and he responded, “No, no no. I’m fully on board with bare-knuckle,”

He further put forth his reasons to retire from mixed martial arts. Brimage said, “MMA, trying going back to it, it’s so much to prepare for, you got your boxing, your wrestling, your jiu-jitsu, your anti-wrestling, your muay Thai, your strength and conditioning. You know, somehow you have to work to make a respectable living and then your social life takes too much out.”

Adding further, Brimage said, “Now that I’m older, I have more responsibilities now. I don’t have the time to dedicate to each thing… With bare knuckle, I only have one thing I really have to focus on and I focus on it well.”

But, as the saying goes, ‘when one door closes, another one opens’ and Brimage sees this opportunity as a chance to make a comeback and prove himself in the ring.
