Oscars 2023: ‘Legit Disgusting Behavior’ by Oscar Nominee Tems Has Fans and UFC Veteran Fuming

Former UFC fighter Jake Shields is not really known to mince his words or shy away from making controversial statements. And the 44-year-old veteran MMA fighter’s Twitter feed is an excellent example of it. Staying true to his personality, Shields has once again aimed his crosshairs at a certain artist during the just concluded Academy Awards. Calling out for the ridiculous dress she wore during the award function, the MMA fighter put forth a hypothetical question for his followers.

Following his tweet, fans condemned Tems, the artist in question here, for her choice of dress, which they deemed inconsiderate for the people seated right beside her. Tweeting a photo of Tems, who was dressed in a gown with a headpiece that wrapped around her head, Shields posted –“Imagine going to a show and this chick is sitting next to or in front of you”

As members of the audience seated right beside her struggled to have a view of what was going on ahead, this question seemed quite logical as a matter of fact.

His followers too, mostly agreed with his take as they ridiculed her choice of dress.

Someone said they’d make her pay for the surrounding seats as well if it was a movie theatre.

A couple of comments pointed out the “smug” expression she carried.

Surprisingly, a fan of the artist came out in defense of her, asking Shields to let her enjoy the day.

Apart from Shield, there were multiple other personalities too who called her out.

Who is Tems, the woman in the picture getting criticized by Shields? 

The woman in question here is the Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems, who is known for being a part of multiple award-winning tracks. Her song “Lift me up” was nominated for the best original song category in this year’s Academy Awards. Although she didn’t win the award, Tems did turn a lot of heads with her choice of dress.

Prior to getting nominated for the 2023 Oscars, the 27-year-old also has a Grammy for her songwriting and vocals. Interestingly “Lift me up” was also co-written by Rihanna and was a part of the movie ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

And as for her gown and headpiece, which seemed to have troubled the people seated beside her, it was not only Jake Shields who found it ridiculous. This was also widely covered by other media outlets after photos of her arrival at the function started going viral.
