Rose Namajunas became the UFC women’s strawweight champion for the second time at UFC 261 by winning against Zhang Weili. At the UFC 261 post-fight press conference, Dana White shared his point-of-view on Rose Namajunas not liking the attention as the UFC champ.
Namajunas became the UFC women’s strawweight champion for the first time when she defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217. ‘Thug’, who was the underdog for that fight, shocked the world with a first-round TKO victory.

After becoming the UFC women’s strawweight champ, she gained a lot of popularity, but didn’t like the attention. Hence, as she regained her belt against Zhang, the question of Namajunas dealing with the attention came to the fore once more.

In the UFC 261 post-fight press conference, Dana White shared his point-of-view on the same. The UFC President said, “Listen. She is one of the sweetest human beings you will ever meet. We love Rose. But ya, Rose doesn’t love all the attention when she is the champ, and you know it’s one of those things that you have to.”
“You know, it’s part of the gig, it’s part of the deal. But It hasn’t made the fans love her any less. I mean, listen to this place tonight. People love Rose Namajunas. So, we will just let Rose be Rose, and I won’t mess with her. Let her do her thing.”

After her first successful title defense, ‘Thug’ faced Jessica Andrade at UFC 237 and lost her title via a second-round KO. ‘Bate Estaca’ surrendered the belt in her next fight and then lost to Namajunas at UFC 251 to hand the Colorado native a shot at the belt.

In Jacksonville, Namajunas pounced and landed a perfectly timed head kick to snatch the belt from the champion. Consequently, she became the first woman in the UFC to regain a championship.
