After UFC president Dana White and Joe Rogan, now Paddy Pimblett weighs in on the UFC 282 co-main event controversy. It has gone down as one of the most controversial events in the history of the promotion. While the promotion was already dealing with James Krause’s fight-fixing controversy, they are now facing a lot of backlash from fans and fighters due to the results of the co-main and main events. Subsequently, Sean O’Malley shared his two cents on the UFC 282 co-main event controversy and compared it with his win.

Firstly, fan favorite Paddy Pimblett fought against Jared Gordon in a fight. Wherein, according to spectators globally, Gordon was the winner, being more dominant in the first two rounds. However, the judges gave the decision to Pimblett.

On the other hand, in the main event, Magomed Ankalaev was more dominant against Jan Błachowicz, seeming more dominant in at least 3 out of 5 rounds. Yet the result was a split draw, to everyone’s surprise. However, what was more surprising was the drama that followed.
UFC president Dana White pointed out Jared Gordon‘s strategy in the third round during the post-fight media interaction. While Joe Rogan was so confident about Gordon’s victory that he reportedly assured Gordon that he had won this fight.
O’Malley considers his win less controversial to UFC 282 co-main event
The #1 bantamweight contender ‘Sugar‘ fought against former bantamweight champion Petr Yan. Although Yan looked like the more dominant, O’Malley had his hand raised following the judge’s decision. Subsequently, the promotion and O’Malley faced backlash over the result.
However, ‘Sugar’ believes that it’s not a ‘robbery’ in comparison to Pimblett’s victory. He sat down with Michael Bisping for an interview, wherein, he said, “I know everybody uh thought I was a robbery. But no one really knew what a robbery was until we saw Paddy Pimblett’s fight.”

“So I think put that a perspective my fight was uh was a definitely not a robbery”, he further added.

Who Sean O’Malley picked as the winner
Sean O’Malley shared about a conversation he had with his friend regarding who he thought had won the fight. He said, “I thought he lost. But I mean, I even leaned over to my buddy and I said I bet the judges give it to him.”
He further explains that judges might have seen the fight-betting odds before the fight and who was the favorite. This might have swayed their scores in their minds.
