Sean Strickland is coming off the biggest win of his career. The California native took on an always game Jack Hermansson at UFC Fight Night 200. The two men headlined the event, in a fight that might have title implications.

Even though the bout didn’t live up to the hype, Strickland came out on top. He beat the number 6 ranked Hermansson via a controversial split decision. All the MMA community had ‘Tarzan’ winning via unanimous decision. The win, however, puts him in a weird position as he only has his good friend Marvin Vettori as a potential opponent.

During the post-fight conference, Strickland revealed that he was, in fact, the backup fighter for Costa vs. Vettori.

He said, “Marvin Vettori, he’s a good buddy of mine. I actually helped him train for Costa and Jack. So, I was his main training partner. That’s a fight I wouldn’t wanna fight. They actually asked me, whatever, Costa ‘drink too much wine and cookies.’ They offered me a lot of money to take his fight on a day notice.”

“I called Marvin. I was like Marvin, they’re offering me a lot of f**king money. Like, I have to say yes. Marvin, being a good friend, was like dude, yes, I can’t blame you for saying yes. So in that situation, I said yes, but if it was just what I was making, I would rather bow my head. I’ll let Marvin get another title shot before I fight him,” he added.

The middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, is defending his title against Robert Whittaker at UFC 271; Jared Cannonier will take on Derek Brunson on the same card.

Sean Strickland says he is a piece of s**t with money

The UFC middleweight, even when he’s not fighting, doesn’t fail to catch the attention of the fans. He is known for his controversial takes and words and fans enjoy that.

‘Tarzan’ delivered on that after his fight against Jack Hermansson. During the post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, he said, “Again, to the fans, I always thank you, guys. You guys are the ones that sign my paycheck. I appreciate this. Without you guys, I’d probably be a piece of sh** somewhere. Now I’m a piece of sh** with money. Let’s go!”
