UFC middleweight Derek Brunson took to social media and responded to a call-out made by surging rival Kevin Holland. ‘The Trailblazer’ is one of the hottest names in the sport currently and is fresh off a KO win over Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza. He sent the Brazilian legend to sleep in the first round with an unorthodox KO from a seated position.
Additionally, the win marked his fifth straight victory for 2020, a feat accomplished by only two others in the modern era. Furthermore, he won five straight in a matter of just seven months. Holland is now a huge player in the 185-pound division, and he’ll look to settle down into some big named fights.

Derek Brunson vs Kevin Holland: Bad Blood
Kevin Holland spoke to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani recently and revealed that he was vying for a bout against Brunson. Holland revealed that Brunson’s striking was disrespectful, and he cited this as a reason to fight him. The call-out was in tune with the brash and outspoken brand that ‘The Trailblazer’ has built for himself.
“I want to beat [Derek Brunson] up because I don’t like the way he strikes. It just looks awkward. It’s like a disrespect to striking. It’s sad that he’s knocked out strikers before with that weird striking.”
Kevin Holland wasn’t too pleased that Brunson hadn’t responded to his call-out and Brunson was sure to oblige.
Ha ha I accept .

Historically speaking, defeating Derek Brunson has been a ticket for middleweights in the past to burst into contention. Former and current champions Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya both shot to stardom with spectacular KO’s over Brunson. Kevin Holland seemingly believes that he’ll receive a similar buzz by walking through the divisional veteran.
What’s more, Holland also revealed some unsavory conversations with Brunson via social media. He explained that Derek Brunson threatened to ‘dump him on his head’ using his collegiate level wrestling. This certainly left a bad taste in Holland’s mouth, and the surging middleweight has his sights set on dismantling Brunson. Moreover, fans will be quick to get behind a fight, which has plenty of bad blood to boot.
