From knocking out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds to standing in front of Eddie Alvarez with his guard down, there is no doubt that Conor McGregor deserves his nickname ‘The Notorious.’ But apart from his performance inside the octagon, the Irishman is notorious for one thing more: His social media shenanigans. With more than ten declarations of retirement, multiple vague callouts, and a barrage of unfulfilled announcements later, it’s safe to say that ‘Mystic Mac’s’ words should be taken with a grain of salt.

Although most people realize this, there are times when his words can create a buzz. This was recently witnessed when McGregor shared a screenshot of UFC Fight Pass with UFC 296: Chandler v McGregor. But despite how authentic it might look, this is certainly one of many troll attempts by Conor McGregor. However, why hasn’t Dana White and the company refuted this claim yet? A veteran of the sport wonders the same.

Chael Sonnen questions Dana White and the company

Chael Sonnen recently expressed his views on Conor McGregor’s comeback news. According to the three-time UFC title challenger, the screenshot is a fake one. But apart from this, he also gave insight into an important question: why hasn’t Dana White denied this? According to ‘American Gangster’, this is something White can easily do so. So what’s stopping him and other UFC officials ?

In Chael Sonnen’s own words, “Okay, this is a troll move that can be dispelled instantly. Somebody could see that and send one text message to Dana White, come out, and dispel it. Send one text message to Conor McGregor, send one text message to Conor’s management team, who likely doesn’t even know that he posted it, right? I mean, you could dispel this very quickly.”

Later, Sonnen also expressed his opinion on White’s silence. In his opinion, the post is garnering some great attention. And it is very likely that the UFC is trying to cash on its popularity, using this as a buildup for a possible future event. Something which Sonnen claims that has happened in the past. But given Conor McGregor’s popularity, this does not seem too necessary. So, is there any amount of authenticity in this presumably troll post?

A troll post by McGregor or a glimpse of reality for a future event

For those unaware, Conor McGregor has been inactive in the octagon for two years now due to a gruesome leg injury that forced him out of action. But as of now, it looks like the fighter has completely recovered. In fact, the Irishman was recently a part of UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter alongside Michael Chandler. And in the show’s tradition, he is expected to face ‘Iron Mike’ following the show’s finale. However, as of now, nothing is official yet.

The fighter is also involved in trouble with the testing agency, USADA. This is due to the fact that McGregor has been out of the testing pool ever since he sustained the gruesome injury back in 2021. As of the writing of this video, he has yet to submit a sample. Keeping this in mind, it’s safe to say that the former two-division champion is not fighting anytime soon.

But the question remains: Why hasn’t UFC or Dana White denied this claim? Are they playing along with Conor McGregor, as Chael Sonnen Claims? Or is it just one of the many virtual stunts of Conor McGregor? Only Dana White and the UFC can tell.
