On January 21, 2023, the UFC 283, headlined by two title fights, took place at Jeunesse Arena, Rio, in Brazil. While the fight card offered a shot at history for the fighters under the card, it also offered them an opportunity to chart the way to stardom and glory. Fighting under the stacked fight card, the light heavyweights’ Paul Craig and Johnny Walker’s encounter promised fireworks. As expected, the Saturday night event’s first fight under the main card, between the two, stood on the fans’ expectations. The typical striker and grappling contest started with both the threatening fighters gauging each other. However, it was the 30-year-old, coming off a win in his last outing who initiated the proceedings with a leg kick. Both the fighter adopted a cautious approach. But, it was Walker who assumed the aggressor’s role. Displaying patience, Craig remained precise in his strikes. However, the 19-7 record holder checked his right leg kick, which the Scottish fighter grabbed, and what followed was a right punch from the crowd’s favorite fighter.
As a result, the Brazilian fighter dropped his opponent and followed up with explosive punches. Thus, forcing Marc Goddard to stop the fight with only 2 minutes into the fight time. Later on, the SBG Ireland team representative hit with his worm celebration and appeared in a jolly mood.
