‘The Nightmare’ is one of the most unique characters to ever grace the Octagon. He might not have been a UFC champion, but his legacy is beyond belts. Sanchez has been a true legend of the sport and is beloved among the fans. So, it’s sad to see a UFC icon like him go out without having his farewell.
Sanchez challenged B. J. Penn for the lightweight championship in 2009, but lost. Wins over Jim Miller, Clay Guida, Nick Diaz, and more are the highlights of his career. Sanchez had a massive 16 finishes in his long career, with 10 of them coming by T/KO and 6 by submission.
Sanchez had won 3 out of his last 5 fights in the UFC. However, a decision loss to Jake Matthews will go down as his last fight inside the Octagon. Now, it remains to be seen if the 39-year-old will take his talents to another promotion or retire from the sport.
What’s next for Donald Cerrone after the fight against Diego Sanchez is canceled?
‘Cowboy’ is hoping to get a last-minute replacement to stay on the May 8 card. He is always ready to fight anybody, anywhere. So, it’s not surprising to see the legend wanting to take on a short-notice opponent. Kevin Holland has already promised to fight him. However, there is no official word from the UFC.
