“UFC Is Guiding His Career” – Brutally Honest Sean O’Malley Refuses to Accept Paddy Pimblett Has Any Stardom in or Outside the MMA World

Sean O’Malley in a recent interview with The Schmo, shared his opinion on Paddy Pimblett and how he felt the UFC was molding the Liverpool-born UFC lightweight fighter’s career. Staying true to his personality, O’Malley did not shy away from making bold comments about Pimblett, even stating that the latter showed some holes in his game during his last fight.

O’Malley considers himself the biggest star in the promotion and his views on ‘The Baddy’ are not much of a surprise considering how straightforward he has been.

When asked by The Schmo about Pimblett’s next move; O’Malley stated he believed the UFC was guiding the Englishman’s career. “He’s gonna wait till UFC says, ‘he is who we are thinking’. UFC is guiding his career and they wanna see him win.” claims O’Malley. Undoubtedly, his words might hold weight for a section of the fans; since many believe that Pimblett is being given easier fights in order to fast-track him as a future superstar.

The number-one-ranked Bantamweight feels ‘The Baddy’ might be offered another fight outside the top 15 yet again.“I think we can get another fight outside the top 15 for Paddy and they wanna continue to build him.”

O’Malley on Pimblett’s potential as a star and the similar approach both taken in their careers

While talking about Pimblett’s last fight against Jared Gordon, which ended in a controversial win for the Englishman, the Dana White Contender Series graduate felt that Pimblett might have a few holes in his game; even questioning the legitimacy of his stardom.“Paddy showed some holes. I don’t know if he’s gonna be that big superstar that we think he has the potential to.” Stated the 28-year-old.

Although he might not consider Pimblett among the top stars currently; O’Malley expressed that the career path they have taken is quite similar. “Well, if you look back on my career, I really wasn’t calling out. I guess there were times where I was saying I can beat the number one guys, I can beat this guy in the top 10. I was never really calling on a specific name and I think he’s taken the same approach.” ‘Sugar’ confided.

Maybe the UFC is playing a role in guiding Paddy Pimblett’s career as claimed by O’Malley. But coming to the question of stardom and how popular Paddy has been when fighting in the UK, one cannot argue that he undoubtedly has the potential to turn into a massive star

 But for the question of who will be the biggest star in the future, only time can reveal that answer.
