VIDEO: Israel Adesanya Reacts to Chris Weidman’s Nasty Leg Injury at UFC 261

UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, kept a close eye on how things unfolded at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida. The main card had 5 fights with none of them going the distance. It was an exciting event for the fans with a night full of finishes. But the most surprising of the pack was Chris Weidman’s leg break against Uriah Hall.
Adesanya was disgusted to see the injury. He couldn’t even watch at one point in time as Weidman’s injured leg was almost hanging. Adesanya also acknowledged that the crowd was actually enjoying the brutality of the injury. He also said that the type of the injury was just like that of Anderson Silva.

Weidman, a former UFC middleweight champion himself, was looking to build on his win against Omari Akhmedov last year. He was looking to land leg kicks on Hall as the fight started. But ‘The All American’ broke his leg on the first shot he threw at ‘Primetime’. It was reminiscent in a lot of ways to Anderson Silva’s leg break against Weidman himself at UFC 168.
When Weidman recovers from this brutal injury remains to be seen. But judging by the visual brutality of it, it might take some time before ‘The All American’ can actually come back to training again. He even took to social media recently to update fans with the latest news about his injury. Weidman has gone through surgery successfully. Also, he is keen to return to training once he is deemed medically fit.

‘Stylebender’ returns to the Octagon at UFC 263 as he fights Marvin Vettori in a rematch. The duo fought to a split decision in 2018, with Adesanya claiming the win. He will be extra motivated this time, having lost his undefeated record in his last fight at UFC 259 against Jan Blachowicz.
‘The Italian Dream‘, on the other hand, earned a decision against Kevin Holland in his last fight and has put together a 5-fight winning streak in the UFC’s middleweight division. So, it’s only fair he gets another shot at the champion and his first opportunity to become a UFC champion.
