Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier are set to face each other inside the Octagon to claim the one and only BMF belt at UFC 291. Without a doubt, the event has raised the entropy amongst MMA fans, as talks and predictions regarding the fight have begun to emanate from every nook and corner of the world.

In his recent talk with Daniel Cormier, Islam Makhachev also opened up on the topic. Although he didn’t seem to care about the BMF title, he had his opinion straight regarding the fight. After the UFC Hall of Famer enquired about Makhachev’s thoughts about the bout, the fighter seemed to have one name as the victor.

Islam Makhchev predicts the outcome of Dustin Poirier versus Justin Gaethje

During his recent appearance on Cormier’s YouTube talk show, Makhachev provided his opinion on the upcoming fight for the BMF title. As soon as the former heavyweight champion asked him about his opinion, Makhachev jumped to reveal his thoughts.

The Dagestani champion reasoned that Poirier was the better fighter indeed. “What Gaethje have for Poirier? Nothing! Poirier have good boxing. Better than Gaethje. And that’s it.”

The lightweight champ believed that Poirier could easily defeat Gaethje in the fight. The response apparently took Cormier by surprise. He repeated the response to make sure he heard right. But Makhachev was adamant with his belief.

The UFC lightweight seemed to believe that the BMF title was for those who could not become champions. Furthermore, he claimed that he would deny wearing the belt in case he was offered to fight for it.

He said, “They give him some belt (and say), ‘Be happy, fight for ‘BMF. But this is what is it I don’t know brother… They (Gaethje & Poirier) fight for the real belt many times and they are always losing. … Honestly, if somebody gave me this belt tomorrow, I don’t want this sh*t.”

Thus, prior to UFC 291 where Gaethje and Poirier will clash for the BMF title, Islam Makhachev ridiculed the belt and the concept.
