

UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje silenced all his doubters with a stellar performance at UFC 286. The human ‘highlight reel’ dismantled Rafael Fiziev in a three-round slugfest in the O2 Arena in London to retain his lightweight ranking spot. Gaethje opened up as the underdog after the UFC announced the fight. Many doubted the former interim champion would beat Fiziev, who was on an impressive 6-fight win streak.

Justin Gaethje beat Fiziev by the majority decision in their UFC 286 co-main event. During the fight, Fiziev sustained gruesome injuries to his face while Gaethje did not look as worse for the wear. Following the event. Fans on Twitter shared the damage that Gaethje has inflicted on his opponents via a Twitter post. While many fans agreed on Gaethje’s destructive capabilities, they also managed to enrage his former opponent and UFC icon, Tony Ferguson.

In a tweet, one fan wrote, “Justin Gaethje is a bad mf. He inflicts damage like no other.” Additionally, the fan added pictures of his opponents like Tony Ferguson, Rafael Fiziev, Eddie Alvarez, and Michael Chandler after their bouts. All their faces had sustained significant damage after competing with Gaethje.

In short, fans agreed with Gaethje’s destructive capabilities. They even pointed out how fighters like Alvarez and Dustin Poirier, who beat Gaethje, also took significant damage from the 34-year-old.
One of them went as far as to compare him to prime Tony Ferguson. Unlucky for him, ‘El Cucuy’ did not take kindly to that comparison.

In a comment under the post, one fan wrote, “He is the @TonyFergusonXT 2.0. We had Tony… yall get Justin.” He was alluding to how Ferguson also left his opponents a bloodied mess after their bouts. However, the 39-year-old shut down the comparison immediately and did not mince his words while doing it.

Once the boogeyman of the lightweight division, Ferguson is currently sitting on a 5-fight losing streak. In fact, it was Gaethje who put an end to his destructive 12-fight win streak and kicked off his downfall.
At UFC 249, Ferguson lost an interim title bout against Gaethje in one of the most one-sided beat downs in UFC history. The boogeyman has only been a shell of his former self since.
