The UFC 281 ended all laughs for the current UFC Female Strawweight champion, Zhang Weili. The Chinese went on to dethrone the former UFC Strawweight champion, Carla Esparza, in the night’s co-main event. Weili received lots of applause from the in-house crowd at Madison Square Garden and online. The ‘Meta’ CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, was also among the ones who congratulated Weili on her victory.

Weili also stated that she was amazed to see the support she received from a country far away from her homeland. This apparently gained her a lot more fans from the US, along with the ‘Meta’ CEO.

Mark Zuckerberg also revealed his desired opponent for Zhang Weili

Zuckerberg used his own platform, Instagram, to congratulate Zhang Weili on her terrific achievement. He replied to a snap of Weili with her team. Zuckerberg wrote, “Congrats! I’d love to see you fight Valentina for a second belt…”

Zuckerberg’s comment revealed that he wanted to see Weili as a two-weight division champion. He wanted Weili to move up a weight class to challenge the UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion, Valentina Shevchenko, and claim the UFC Flyweight Title, too.

Most fans contradicted Zuckerberg’s choice of opponent for Weili

Although Zuckerberg had made his choice clear, some fans revolted against it. A lot of fans wanted to see a title defense from Weili first, before planning to move to any other division. Very few fans appeared in favor of Zuckerberg in this regard.

A fan commented, “Andrade looked really small against Valentina. Obviously Wei Li is strong physically but Val is a very tough fight for anyone who isn’t bigger than her. Nunes, Santos etc.”. While another even predicted the outcome of Zuckerberg’s suggested fight. He wrote, “Valentina can’t wrestle. So weili gets the W”

Another fan doubted whether Zuckerberg’s awaited matchup would ever happen. He wrote, “I think Valentia is too big for Weili”.

One more also supported his opinion writing, “Valentina is in a level of her own at her weight class… Weili doesn’t cut that much weight so she won’t be that big vs Valentina.”
