Joe Rogan has been a keen observer of the Elon Musk-Twitter saga since its beginning. The longtime UFC commentator never shies away from hiding his excitement for Musk taking over the popular social media platform. Rogan believed that Musk wanted to facilitate free speech on Twitter, a space that was notorious for stringent political correctness and rampant cancel culture.
In a recent episode of JRE, Rogan summed up the changes he saw since Musk’s takeover of the bird app. He was talking to his guest, Matt Taibbi, in episode #1940. A clip of an exchange between the pair surfaced on Twitter and prompted a reaction from Musk himself.

While Musk’s response suggested he agreed with Rogan’s comments, there were quite a few responses that disagreed with the pair as well.

What Joe Rogan said about cancel culture
Joe Rogan has always been vocal against cancel culture. During the pandemic era, Rogan faced the threat of cancelation himself as some of his podcast episodes got mired in controversy. However, the former ‘Fear Factor’ host survived those trying times and is one of Spotify’s biggest assets today.

Commenting on the change in the atmosphere on Twitter, Rogan said, “When someone types something on Twitter now, and it’s ridiculous, now people aren’t scared to go in after it. They’re not worried about losing their account, which they were before; which is, I think, one of the more interesting things about Elon Musk buying Twitter.”
The 55-year-old further added that people could now see a lot more vigorous debates and trolling as well. As Rogan credited these changes to Musk, the billionaire responded to the JRE host with a simple tweet.
Fans react to Elon Musk’s response
In his response to Rogan, Musk wrote, “RIP Cancel Culture, you won’t be missed.” However, not everyone agreed with the effectiveness of Musk’s takeover in canceling cancel culture.
One user made a note of Musk’s wishful thinking.
Oh how I wish this was true.

Another said that cancel culture may not truly ever be uprooted.
Idk if it will actually go anywhere. Its not like we stopped what is going on the universities.
— Charles Anderson (@Charles42076889) February 14, 2023
I only wish getting rid of cancel culture were that simple, Mr. Musk.
— Deborah McKeeman (@dmckeeman0001) February 14, 2023
More users joined in on wishing the practice came to an end.
I hope this is really the end of it, even if it hasn't ended yet

Cancel culture is still thriving and (always has been) but it is not cancelling what you believe.
— Rene Jeffrey (@ReneOuld) February 14, 2023
One fan joked, giving props for the feat to both Musk and Rogan.
You and Rogan canceled the cancel culture 😂
