56-year-old Joe Rogan is once again back with his famous JRE podcast episode. This time around, stand-up comedian Colin Quinn appeared for a candid chat. Just like most of his episodes, Rogan’s latest episode was more than interesting. We all know Rogan has been a long-time practitioner of martial arts.
During his peak, the 56-year-old even competed professionally before calling it quits because of injuries. The JRE host has specialized in some martial arts forms, especially Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. However, according to him, there’s one more form that causes the most damage to the brain. Let us find out what he had to say.

The entire conversation started with Quinn pointing out how he used to take judo lessons when he was young. Rogan, who has always been a fan of MMA, was quick to point out the biggest disadvantage of the form. Like most martial arts forms, Judo also comes with its risks, and brain damage is the most common.
While speaking to Quinn, Rogan said, “You’re getting brain damage in regular judo 100%.” However, he was quick to point out that it was one of the best martial arts forms out there. The entire conversation then shifted towards the sports that cause the most brain damage.

He said, “You get brain damage from riding a jet ski. Yeah, my friend Mark Gordon he specializes in traumatic brain injuries. He’s a doctor. And he works with a lot of veterans, football players, fighters and stuff. He’s like everything that hits your head is bad. Like soccer guys get CTE chronic traumatic. The things that boxers get and football players get and MMA fighters get.”

Despite being a practitioner of MMA, Rogan has always been mindful of the disadvantages of the sport. Injuries and MMA go hand in hand, and no professional athlete can escape them. In one of his recent episodes, he shared a devastating experience that forced him to leave MMA.

Joe Rogan shares the reason for his exit from MMA
It’s no surprise that Joe Rogan once wanted to become a professional MMA fighter. However, he never fulfilled the dream because of constant injuries and a fear of getting hurt. During one of his recent podcasts, he shared the exact reason that forced him to end his journey. Rogan relieved one of his matches at the US Open National Taekwondo Tournament while speaking to his guest. The JRE host was 19 years old and was super enthusiastic about his fight.
Rogan narrated that he was facing one of the most talented guys in the circuit. However, he landed a kick, which hurt him a lot. He said, “fought this kid who was, I think he was the Illinois state champion. And I hit him in the head with a wheel kick… and it has insane power, I mean insane power… And I caught this guy, he came at me with what’s called a stepping roundhouse kick.” Such was the impact that his opponent never recovered and had to be taken to the hospital.

This is where the Bostonian lost his interest in the sport and never recovered from the incident. He further added, “I have no idea what happened to him and it freaked me out… And then I was thinking I’m not immune to that, someone could 100% do that to me… That was probably like the beginning of the end for me.”
