The UFC middleweight kingpin, Israel Adesanya, has already defended his belt once in 2021. At UFC 263, he outpointed Marvin Vettori in a rather one-sided fight. Following that, many tipped the former champion, Robert Whittaker, to be next in line to challenge ‘Izzy’ for the belt. Also, after Adesanya’s post-fight speech, it looked certain that the Aussie star would finally get his chance to reclaim his belt.
Recent rumors also suggested that the UFC was looking to book that fight to headline the UFC 268 pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in November. But Adesanya’s coach, Eugene Bareman, dismissed those claims in a recent interview.

“Nah, Nah, that’s not completely accurate. Yeah, I think nothing came over. Nothing really came past me about anything, any anything official being named for New York. Or Robert Whittaker or anything. Yeah, no utterances, or any official source,” said Bareman.

The famous trainer also revealed some news regarding the situation that will displease ‘The Reaper’. According to Bareman, it’s tough for his team to get a voucher to enter the country again if they decide to take a fight.
“Unfortunately, for Robert and his team, that puts them in a really unfortunate predicament. Because in between, in between all of that happening, someone else might put up their hand and be much better, more kinda delectable fight for we like mention if Darren Till got two wins,” said the founder of City Kickboxing Academy.

“And, Robert, you’re probably you’re getting shifted back, my friend. So I think that’s a risk that he took when he said no to that other fight, but he should have taken,” he added.

Since his loss to ‘The Last Stylebender‘, Whittaker has managed to put together an impressive 3-fight winning streak. Darren Till, Jared Cannonier, and Kelvin Gastelum have been added to his ever-impressive resume. There is no doubt his body of work is more than enough to earn him a shot.
But the recent complications might put his position in jeopardy. Till vs Adesanya is a fight that fans have been wanting to see because of both fighters’ excellent stand-up prowess. However, that depends on ‘The Gorilla’ winning handsomely.
