Ready to Go Against UFC President Dana White for ‘Small Girls’ Right, Ronda Rousey’s “Sick” Protégé Wants Fair Share

Wrestling standout and protégé of UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey, Victoria Anthony wants the atomweight division introduced in the UFC. She recently appeared in an interview ‘The AllStar’s’ John Hyon Ko to talk about her debut in IMMAF in early 2023. Anthony also talked about her recent Gold medal win at the GAMMA World Championships in Amsterdam.
Anthony was asked about her dream of becoming the atomweight champion in the UFC. But the promotion does not have an atomweight division. She replied by talking about Ronda Rousey‘s influence in the world of MMA. After being told that women will never fight in the MMA, the former UFC champion and Hall of Famer was successful in proving the doubters wrong and became an icon of the sport.

“Like, a 100 per cent, yeah. It is true to see Ronda to be, everyone knows that she was told that women will never fight in the UFC and obviously it is such a massive industry on the women’s side now. So, for me that’s been a massive inspiration to know that you can just create what you want…,” said Anthony. Anthony believes that she has the characteristics and the capability to make sure that her fights are entertaining and interesting.
The protégé of Ronda Rousey wants atomweight division in the UFC
Victoria Anthony also mentioned about some of the other fighters in the atomweight category and said, “There’s so many great atomweight girls that doesn’t even have the chance to show themselves on the big stage, right? That’s one thing that transitioned me out of wrestling as well into MMA, is that they took out the lowest weight class.”

She continued, “It used be 48 kilos or 105 pounds and then, 2017, just boom. I just competed at the world championships at 105 and the next year, the weight’s 110 or 50 kilos, which as a percentage of our body weight is pretty big and in wrestling it is important weight.”

Anthony talked about the omittance of the lowest weight category. She also mentioned that she was “sick” of smaller girls not having a place in the combat sports community. She intends to go against UFC President Dana White to create that platform for the fighters in the future.
