American professional wrestler and former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is one of the biggest names in female combat sports history. She became the first female UFC hall of fame inductee in 2018, back when she first signed for WWE. Perhaps we can say that ‘Rowdy’ is cut from a different cloth. Recently, she described an incident involving her father which has been a life long motivation for her.

Ronda Rousey, similarly in an interview, shared a touching and inspiring conversation between her and her parents, which she still holds close to her.

Ron Rousey, the father of Ronda Rousey, was a division chief at the ship and airplane manufacturer General Dynamics. during his time there, he once looked over the promotion of a black man to a supervisory position.

“We’re not going to work for a black man,” said 2 white men after the controversial judgment by Ron Rousey, as De Mars recalled. He also was quick to solve all the questions and problems regarding the ‘color’ matter. De Mars then added, saying, “Ron said, ‘then you will be fired by a black man.‘”

Everyone, according to Rousey’s mother, went back to work. “He just had that kind of thing about him where he was incredibly moral and incredibly courageous.” “That’s the way I try to be like him.” Rousey concluded.

Furthermore, ‘The Arm Collector’ claimed that she got her courage from her father. Raised by AnnMaria De Mars, who was the first American to win a gold medal at the World Judo Championships; she comes from a fighting lineage.

In a truly unfortunate manner, Ronda Rousey lost her father to suicide. She explained once how her dad had a rare blood disorder similar to Hemophilia where the blood would not clot. Furthermore, this brewed trouble when her father broke his back and could not heal due to it.

Seeing no way back, her dad took his own life due to his pride. He drove his car and put a hose in the exhaust, which resulted in his demise. As her coping mechanism, 8-year-old ‘Rowdy’ would often tell herself that her dad had gone on a business trip and would be back soon.
