That said, the Irishman is still the biggest A-lister and White would welcome him back any day. Dana White wants the ‘Notorious’ McGregor to return at the right time.
However, the UFC headman doesn’t know when the right time would come.
“Conor McGregor is retired, (but) you never know. Listen, it makes a lot of sense for him to come back at the right time. I don’t know when the right time is yet,” said Dana White.
2020 has been a beneficial year for UFC in terms of events and PPV sales. However, the COVID-19 outbreak has interrupted the fans from attending those live events. It is believed that Conor McGregor’s retirement appeared for the same reason.
After defeating Donald Cerrone via first-round KO at UFC 246, the Irish gladiator vowed to remain active. However, after the wreckage of COVID-19 and post-UFC 250, Conor retired from the sport with a shocking tweet.
No wonder Dana also had a hard time setting up events amid the outbreak of a deadly bug. But the 51-year-old has still managed to pull off those live events successfully.
“I’m trying to get to January 1. That’s my goal this year, is to get to January 1 without anything blowing up anymore this year in 2020. I can’t wait for 2020 to be gone. This will go down as the worst year in history, ever,“ said Dana White.
