

Former UFC Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt took to Twitter and was involved in a war of words with Petr Yan. The two 135-pounders have exchanged verbals barbs back and forth on social media following UFC 251 which saw Yan compete. Not to mention this incident is yet another addition in the recurring case of animosity being generated.
‘No Mercy’ Yan won the undisputed UFC Bantamweight strap against Jose Aldo in the inaugural event at Fight Island. The fight was largely competitive until the 4 round where it appeared that the ‘King of Rio’ might pull ahead. Chiefly, It was not to be, as Petr Yan would earn the 5 round TKO after launching a successful comeback.

The two high-level 135-pound fighters are not the kind to shy away from engaging in conflict over social media. The two fighters have a storied history as they had an unpleasant run-in following UFC 245. Petr Yan was victorious in his effort against Cody’s teammate in Urijah Faber, which has sown the seeds of resentment.
