Lindsey Vonn’s 9-Year-Old Competitor Joins Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to Craft Special Message for the Skiing Legend

Lindsey Vonn has been a welcoming presence in the sporting industry. The now-retired alpine-skiing star has had a career to remember and reminisce. From Olympic participation to World Championship titles, the skiing icon has achieved it all through her life as a 39-year-old. Today, on the 18th of October, her achievements shine brighter as admirers chime in to send their appreciation for the icon on her birthday.

Lindsey Vonn has been a keen enthusiast of sports in general. One moment, you can find the star at a tennis showdown and the next she will be at the F1, cheering on the racers. This presence of the star has spread her name wide and far; proving it well as she witnessed wishes pouring in on her birthday. Amongst these wishes, however, was a name that stood out for the long-standing fans. The name of the 9-year-old tennis prodigy, Phalyn Parrott.

On the 18th of October, as Lindsey Vonn celebrated her 39th birthday, the star knew no shortage of love and appreciation. The icon took to her Instagram stories to reshare some of the posts. Among the wishes from Dwayne Johnson, Under Armour, and Bella Wright was a post by Phalyn Parrott; the 9-year-old tennis player who once challenged Lindsey Vonn in a match.

The youngster took to her story to share an image of the two standing beside each other -smiling- with a racket in hand. The 9-year-old, wishing Lindsey penned a heartfelt note. “You are not only my friend, you are my mentor and the person who motivates, inspires, and drives me to be my best. My birthday wish for you is that you achieve not only your dreams but also continue to help others achieve theirs!” Resharing it in her story, Lindsey wrote, heart, followed by a U.

Lindsey came across Phalyn back in July and was instantly drawn towards the youngster for her determination. Lindsey instantly connected with the youngster for a quick match and mentoring. Sharing a post on the day spent, Lindsey wrote, “Mentoring is a big part of what gives me joy these days. Sharing the knowledge I’ve learned in my life to help guide kids in their journey is hugely rewarding.” Aligning with her thoughts to always keep a door open for advice.

The Skiing icon wishes to give back to society

The alpine skiing star has always notified people about her biggest inspiration, Picabo Street. During one of her interviews with Olympics.com, Lindsey revealed that she met Picabo when she was 9 years old, who took out 90 seconds off her day to make her smile. The gesture left a huge impression on Lindsey which she now tries to reciprocate to the kids who look up to her.

“Since Ski racing I have really tried to find areas in which I could support women that are underrepresented.” She further added that she tries to be an open door for anyone who wants her advice or help and a lot of times it has been tennis for some reason. “I say to everyone, you know, on the ski circuit or any sport, my door is always open.”

To do her part and lend her help to those who require it, Lindsey also has a foundation in her name. The Lindsey Vonn Foundation works to provide underprivileged kids with passions the resources they require to achieve their dreams and passions.
