The dark side of social media came into the picture when Nicholas Latifi faced death threats after the last race of the 2021 season. Sadly, athletes are prone to fan criticism; however, hate and threats are extreme. In Latifi’s tough times, many athletes came into his support. LA Dodgers star Trevor Bauer joined the list of Latifi’s supporters as he shared a post defending the Williams’ driver.

As much as love athletes receive, they are also open to a lot of hate in the world of social media. The last race of the Formula 1 season took a lot of dramatic turns, ending with Nicholas Latifi’s DNF. Expectedly, fans did not let Nicholas get away with his loss, without throwing harsh comments on him. Sadly, the star driver also received death threats.

LA Dodgers pitcher, who has been quite active on Twitter in the lockout, also backed up him by addressing the haters. Trevor wrote, ”You should all read this. Especially those who turn notifications on to say hateful things to athletes as soon as they tweet. Take a while to reflect on the world you’re contributing to. Is that the type of world you’d like to live in? Well said Nicholas and all the best to you.”

Indeed, the fans should be empathetic and respectful towards athletes, even if they have the privilege to speak their minds on social media.
