The New York Yankees are eagerly waiting for the lockout to end, so they can make a much-awaited move and secure their future shortstop. Notably, while the Yankees are aiming to grab a player in the major league, they already have one young blood preparing to dominate the position in the future.
20-year-old Anthony Volpe is part of the New York Yankees organization. However, with Carlos’ potential arrival, he might have to fight twice as hard for his place in the major league.

Anthony Volpe is not overthinking his future
Anthony Volpe was drafted into the New York Yankees organization in 2019. He made his debut with the Pulaski Yankees of the Rookie Advanced Appalachian League. Volpe has put on some promising performances in his 34 appearances where he batted .215 with two home runs and 11 RBIs.
In a recent interview, Volpe expressed his thoughts about Yankees signing Carlos, while rumors of him being be the future star for the team are on the rise. Volpe said, “I mean, I guess it’s kind of surreal. When you hear friends coming back into town on Christmas break and they say stuff like that. I mean, I know I probably sound like a broken record; at the end of the day, whether it happens this year next year whenever I just really like to stay in the present. And just work every day to try and become that player one day, that player that wins multiple World Series with the Yankees, that’s the long term goal.”

He further added, ”I have a lot of short-term goals that probably have a lot more than I can control, so that’s kind of all I’m really focused about and wherever the chips fall, they fall.”
As there is time till Volpe shines in MLB, the Yankees are hopeful of making a big signing post-lockout.
