About to Go Broke, Jay Cutler Reveals How “Big Paychecks” From Real Estate Helped Him Live His Dream Life: “I Was Making a 100 Grand”

When he was just starting out to build a decent bodybuilding career, Jay Cutler barely had enough money to pay for gas to drive his truck. Later, however, his fortunes changed as he heaped one championship after another. The prize money that came along while winning bodybuilding contests eased the harsh ways of life for him. So, what did he do with so much green in hand? 

Cutler made these revelations in the 57th episode of the Cutler Cast podcast. Trusting his financial instincts, Cutler also made a sudden investment in property. Talking about his indulgences in the real estate industry, Cutler also recounted how the paychecks helped him be free of debts.

“I had fourteen thousand dollars on a credit card,” Cutler admitted. Later, the Olympia champion spoke about how he won $14,000 in Olympia once and $20,000 in other shows. This helped him pay off those debts.

Afterward, Cutler narrated, “I go to the Olympian 01, put all my eggs in one basket, placed second, win 60,000.” Continuing, he told how he won the Arnold Classic after that and visited Las Vegas. It was then Cutler saw a big opportunity of investing in real estate in a property in Las Vegas. Paying $10,000 as a deposit for a property, Cutler took a big step to secure his future.

Additionally, Cutler expressed how he brought one rental property in 2002. Further, he recounted, “I brought seven homes in 2003 […] When you get those big paychecks, it’s a huge stepping stone.”  Needless to say, the huge prize money Cutler received helped him to change his life for the better. 

Further in the podcast, Cutler told that he made a big killing on a house. “I was making a 100 grand on a house that it took me three months to…basically build.”  The 4x Mr. Olympia champion also told that he had additional income from various rental properties he had kept. This indicates how Cutler took smart decisions to ensure that he never had financial problems in the future. Surprisingly, Cutler also revealed the amount of money he earned at the peak of his career in 2022.

The 4x Mr. Olympia champion explained that he generated income from his supplements business, DVDs, and clothing line. Needless to say, Cutler Nutrition’s sales have played a huge role in generating income. Further, the bodybuilder said that he had a great team to help him effectively manage his businesses. 

Afterward, Cutler said that his income during his peak career was probably 2–2.5 million dollars. The bodybuilding champion implied that signing endorsement deals and making guest appearances at events were also important income sources.
