“I’m Not a Powerlifter”: Nick Walker Is Not Willing to Risk His Physique for ‘Fun’

Nick ‘The Mutant’ Walker who is deemed as the prospective winner for the upcoming winner of Arnold Classics 2023 is a modern-day bodybuilding star. Known for his monstrous body, the 5’7″ IFBB pro is slowly becoming the bodybuilding world’s favorite. As he prepares for the second biggest bodybuilding event, Walker revealed his workout secrets. Spilling the beans, the 28-year-old revealed how he has been consciously avoiding powerlifting to concentrate more on weights. The Mutant, however, has a solid reason for doing that.

If the history of bodybuilding has taught us one thing, it is that post-injury comebacks have a wafer-thin possibility. As per logic, The Mutant’s careful navigation around which element makes it to his training routine is worth noting. Talking about it in detail, the second runners-up for the 2022 Mr. Olympia competition had a lot to say in the latest podcast of Mutant and The Mouth.

Powerlifting bought Edward Ignatius Coan immense fame and his rightful reputation in the powerlifting sphere has led fans and experts to hail him as the GOAT. While Coan’s 71 world record inspired many to pursue powerlifting as a profession, bodybuilding champ Walker could not really connect with the sport. Sitting for a talk with Guy Cisternino, Walker emphasized how he has been consciously concentrating more on bodybuilding over powerlifting.

Talking about it, he remarked, “at the end of the day, we are bodybuilders. I’m not a powerlifter.” Even though he acknowledges that lifting heavy weights is fun, he says, “F**k yeah bro, this sh**’s fun to lift heavy weights sometimes.” However, Walker reveals that he prefers to look at the larger picture.

He enquires, “What is it going to do career-wise for me?” Thus, seeing no future prospect for him in powerlifting, the rising bodybuilder takes a conscious call to dedicate more of his time to bodybuilding. Lifting heavy weights is something that Walker enjoys, but it’s not always his first priority, he prefers to keep it toned down. While working out, Walker prefers to do his repetitions slowly. He is now busy preparing for the upcoming Arnold Classics.

In bodybuilding, posing is an integral part. Striking the correct pose is an art, and every bodybuilder attempts to perfect it. Ahead of Arnold Classic 2023, Walker, too, is trying hard to get his pose perfect. The 2021 Arnold Classic winner intends not to leave any stone unturned to claim back his title. Giving a glimpse of his preparation a few days back, he shared a photo collage where he was seen flexing his arms and chest.

Sharing two different pictures while perfecting two different poses, he wrote, “seeing them side by side, I like the new version a lot better….” He even asked the fans to share their reactions. Impressed fans were quick to assert him with his winning chances. They did not just applaud him for his hard work but also extended their warm wishes for his upcoming competition.
