Ronnie Coleman is a legendary bodybuilder with eight Mr. Olympia titles. However, every reign has to end one day. Coleman’s reign over the Mr. Olympia title ended in 2006, when Jay Cutler won his first Mr. Olympia title. Jay Cutler is another pro bodybuilding legend, who has won four Mr. Olympia titles. Moreover, he stood the runner-up four times, when Ronnie won the title, and six times in totality.
However, Cutler and Coleman once challenged each other in the presence of Triple H for winning the title. It happened in 2004, when Ronnie had already attained six titles and was eying for his seventh. On the other hand, at that time, Cutler had been the runner-up two times. Once in 2001, and then in 2003.

After winning six consecutive titles, Coleman‘s confidence was at a real high. On the other hand, after reaching so close to the title twice, Cutler had the confidence to beat Ronnie this time. However, when Triple H asked Cutler about Ronnie’s consecutive wins. Cutler replied, “I have great respect for Ronnie, but you know people say this guy is unbeatable and you know I don’t agree with that. Everyone’s beatable on a certain day, I am gonna win this Olympia.”

The rivalry began back in 2001, when Jay Cutler rose to prominence. However, Ronnie Coleman won Mr. Olympia 2001, and Cutler ranked first-down. This rivalry had an otherwise result directly in 2006, when Cutler finally defeated Coleman and became Mr. Olympia. During that period, Coleman continued to win all the titles from 2001 to 2005, whereas Cutler was runner-up in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
In 2006, Jay Cutler finally emerged as Mr. Olympia defeating the 8-time winner, Ronnie Coleman. Jay Cutler later went on to win four Mr. Olympia titles (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010). However, he won four titles, but was one of the most consistent competitors in the history of Mr. Olympia.

The great rivalry came to a conclusion, when Ronnie retired in 2007. Although Ronnie defeated Jay many times in Mr. Olympia, Jay always presented tough challenges. It’s correctly stated; the opponent increases your hunger to win. Cutler made Coleman more hungry of winning the competition. Moreover, they pushed each other’s game to a higher level and exhibited world-class performances in the competition.
