Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t feel welcomed

Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked about what his father taught him about work ethic. He replied his father was both a plus and a minus in how he motivated him.

Schwarzenegger revealed that he didn’t feel welcomed by his father and started paying for food at home at 15. “I made 300 shilling a month in apprentice and a hundred shilling had to give my parents so I could get the food,” said Schwarzenegger.

Giving one-third of his income to his parents made Arnold want to leave the city. He said, “I hated that I said to myself this is uncalled for because my friends didn’t have to do that you know it was it was a kind of a thing so I said, I’m gonna get away as fast as I can.“

Although Schwarzenegger was bitter about the fact that he had to pay for food, he also acknowledged his father’s positives. He said that his father was a tough man, but he always meant well for Arnold. His father pushed him and got him into the military, but how he expressed his words was problematic for Arnold.

Other struggles that Schwarzenegger faced

Penury might make people feel they have nothing to look up to, but this was not the case for Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger grew up in a household without necessities such as a shower, a proper toilet, or a heating system.

Arnold Schwarzenegger felt that not getting exposed to these luxuries added to his hunger for success. “With none of those luxuries, all of those things you know made you much more hungry for success,” said Schwarzenegger.
