“I Stood Next to Ronnie Coleman Bro”: Bodybuilding Legend Jay Cutler Slammed Questions Comparing Him to 6X Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates

Comparisons are inevitable. From looking up to Ronnie Coleman, the bodybuilding G.O.A.T as an idol to not only giving a tough fight but also grabbing his opportunity of making a world record, Jay Cutler, the four-time Mr. Olympia, proved the power of consistent effort and determination. Owning a massive physique and solid body, Cutler, is also a person with a strong mind.
After Cutler had his first break in 2006, he won four of the five Mr. Olympia competitions until 2011. In a recent interview, Cutler opened up on a hypothetical situation comparing himself with champ Dorian Yates, who won Mr. Olympia between 1992 and 1997.

Jay Cutler on competing against Dorian Yates
Generally, people tend to post pictures and make comparisons. Moreover, they also imagine how one would have performed against another from different periods. To a question about comparing Cutler to Dorian, Cutler gave an answer that set the argument straight.
He said while comparing him to Dorian like, “How would I have done against Dorian Yates?” The 4xMr Olympia reacted that if people wondered what I would have done against “this guy or that guy, I stood next to Ronnie Coleman bro.” According to him, there was nothing stronger to stand next to than Ronnie Coleman.

Cutler stood in second place for ten years. Yet, he gave a tough fight every other time until he won the Olympia. Moreover, he said he was eager to not just win the title but to beat ‘The King’ Coleman.

Fair to say, Cutler’s indomitable will has left an indelible mark in the history of the sport. In an interview, he shared that fans across the world remind him of his career every other day. Interestingly, he said they don’t talk about his runner-up as much as “You’re the guy who beat Ronnie Coleman.”

He also confessed that he wasn’t as motivated after Ronnie stepped down. Furthermore, he shared that his whole career was about ”beating the one guy that I just couldn’t overcome.” Also, he added that he is blessed to be a part of that era, to compete against the best. Recounting the unmatchable legacy created, he stated, “You can’t chase the Ronnie and Jay era. It won’t be repeated.”
