Athletes are well-known for the sports they participate in. But bodybuilding gained more prominence because of the person who participated in it. Classic bodybuilding fans can never remember the sport without talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Arnold Schwarzenegger won six consecutive Mr. Olympia awards and started his bodybuilding contest- Arnold Sports Festival. Jim Lorimer, who co-founded the Arnold Sports Festival and inspired Arnold, passed away this Thursday, leaving Arnold by himself.

Schwarzenegger expresses grief over the death of a 96-year-old friend
Arnold Schwarzenegger used Instagram to express his sympathies to Jim Lorimer’s friends, fans, and family. Schwarzenegger shared photographs of the two in various locations and times. The pictures accurately depict the connection the two had.

Arnold expressed his grief and said he would miss sitting, laughing, and critiquing bodybuilders with Lorimer. Arnold said, “I am devastated that I won’t sit with him again.” He said that although Jim is not with them today, it does not mean he is gone. Every member of Jim’s family, as well as Arnold, carries on his legacy.

Arnold acknowledged that Lorimer is the reason he would never describe himself as self-made. The 75-year-old former bodybuilder alleged that Lorimer stood by his side from the start.

Arnold Schwarzenegger talked about when he first met Jim Lorimer in 1976. The handshake the two legendary figures exchanged 52 years ago remained firm until Lorimer’s death. After Arnold Schwarzenegger retired from bodybuilding, Lorimer and he founded the Arnold Sports Festival in 1989.
Arnold Sports Festival is today the biggest bodybuilding fest after Mr. Olympia. It did not rise from a local bodybuilding show to a show that catered to 200,000 in just a few days. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Lorimer built the platform through their hard work and dedication.
