Although, Terminator is one of the most successful movies in the industry. However, the latest part, Terminator: Dark Fate, gained poor results at the box office. And in a recent interview with Deadline, Cameron blamed his long-term friendship with the movie lead, Arnold Schwarzenegger, for the same.

The producer said, “I think the problem, and I’m going to wear this one, is that I refused to do it without Arnold. Tim didn’t want Arnold, but I said“Look, I don’t want that. Arnold and I have been friends for 40 years, and I could hear it, and it would go like this: ‘Jim, I can’t believe you’re making a Terminator movie without me.’”

Although the movie was later released with its original leads, it did not succeed like other Terminator films. Schwarzenegger and co-star Linda Hamilton were old when they filmed the Dark Fate. Thus, Cameron believes that young audiences did not connect with their characters, and this might have been a key reason for the movie’s failure. He confessed, “So, it was just our own myopia. We kind of got a little high on our own supply, and I think that’s the lesson there.”

Even though the sequel was a failure, the original film was one of the best in history.
