It is not easy to fool the bodybuilding champion, Ronnie Coleman. However, Jesse James West not only achieved this feat, but he also came close to winning a bet of $100 from Coleman. In a 2023 video on his Youtube channel ‘Jessie James West’, West disclosed how he executed this comic prank on ‘The King’ Coleman.

West had trained with ‘The King’ Coleman at Alphaland gym in the summer of 2022. He talked about how he learned of Coleman’s regret of not squatting enough pounds for more reps. This gave West the idea of pranking Coleman by creating an illusion of lifting insane weights at the gym. Further, West related exciting details of his plan which helped him to pull the wool over Coleman’s eyes. So what was the hilarious aftermath of this unexpected prank?

West related that to make sure the plan was successful he “strategically planted fake weights all over the gym.” Now, when he would lift weights, Coleman wouldn’t know they are fake weights. Doing bench presses, West claimed that he would break Coleman’s 800 pounds squat record.

Afterwards, pretending that he was lifting 275 pounds, West lifted plates weighing only 185 pounds and did 3 reps. Later, West lifted 135 pounds, pretending he was lifting 315 pounds. Since Coleman still believed that West was lifting heavy weights, West decided to increase the stakes. He asked Coleman, “We make a bet today? If I hit 600, a $100.”  Without hesitating, Coleman agreed to this bet. Post this, West did ramp-ups before trying to perform the task and win his bet.

Later, when West said he’d lift 600 pounds, Coleman said, “I think you should do 550 first.”  Agreeing with this, West acted as if he were lifting 550 pounds though he was lifting only 275 pounds. However, this was not the end of the story.

West had planned one last prank which was to pretend to lift 700 pounds. In reality, he was lifting only 430 pounds. This, however, proved too much for West and after lifting 430 pounds for a moment, he dropped the barbell he was lifting. Surprisingly, Coleman still believed him and called him “unbelievable” which made West guilty of deceiving him. Following his heart, West then showed him the fake barbell which made Coleman realize the truth. “Oh man you fooling me”, The King spoke after which, both Coleman and West laughed. This was not the only prank West has pulled off successfully. Once, West pulled off an ingenious prank that managed to surprise Chris Bumstead.
