Maria’s suspicion started growing as Arnold’s love child with Mildred grew. The identity of Joseph often addressed as ‘Arnold’s look-alike,’ was kept under the cover for 13 years. Talking of the incident, Mildred, in an interview, revealed how Maria questioned her “point blank” whether or not Arnold was her son’s father.

When Maria confronted Mildred, the latter couldn’t help but fall down on her knees. With guilt and remorse, tears engulfed Mildred. Praising Maria for her composure, she said, “She was so strong. She cried with me and told me to get off my knees.” As the situation started making sense, the two women “held each other.”
Knowing she was also at fault, Mildred quickly said, “it wasn’t Arnie’s fault that it takes two.” She went on to reveal further that they shared a cry together.
Maria sensed something was wrong when she heard “whispers” in the household. The hushed whispers about Joseph’s resemblance with Arnold made Maria very uncomfortable. Unable to take it any further, Arnold’s wife directly confronted her saying, ‘I’m here if you need to talk.’
Mildred didn’t realize herself until Joseph grew up
Speaking about her affair with Arnold, Mildred revealed that, much like Maria, she was not aware that Joseph was Arnold’s son. Only when Joseph grew older did Mildred realize that he was indeed Arnold’s son. As the young boy grew, he became more like Arnold.

She confessed, “It was as Joseph grew and I started to see the resemblance that I wondered – but It became more apparent as time went on.” When Joseph was informed about his father’s identity, he, according to his mother, was pretty “Cool!”

Things must have taken a drastic turn for young Joseph Baena when he learned about his father’s true identity. But the young lad took the whole incident very maturely. Even Arnold showered praise on Baena for his way of handling the whole thing.
