Bruce Lee made a huge impact on Hollywood not only due to his insane martial arts skills but also because of his acting. The legend was a trainer and entertainer who paved his way in the film industry. Across various roles based on his fighting skills, one of his characters often garners nostalgia from fans. Bruce Lee’s rendition of Kato from the Green Hornet has had a separate fanbase altogether. And a recently resurfaced image is the testimony to it.

Bruce Lee as Green Hornet gave a hilarious twist to his persona

Unlike his other roles as a martial arts aficionado, Lee’s role in the Green Hornet gave a superhero-like quality to his character. Yet, there were notes of hilarity in between that made his persona stand out. His episodes with actors Adam West and Burt Ward, who played the roles of Batman and Robin, were a hit amongst the masses.

West, Ward, Lee, and Van Williams enthralled the audience with their Batman and Green Hornet crossover episodes. Comments below the viral photo brought back a lot of memories among fans. Some recalled how their perception of the show differed back then, and said, “Just found the entire series on DVD for $40 at Wally World. Hilarious. And as a kid I thought it would be easy to scale buildings like that” and?“I watched these Batman and Robin with green hornet tv series in my elementary days in the early 1970’s here in the Philippines”.

Meanwhile, fans also made fun of how stunts were shot back then. Scenes, where superheroes would scale buildings, were actually just shot smartly. Fans pointed that out in the comments as well, and said, “It was amazing how they could climb up the sides of buildings like that. Incredible balance” and?“Looking back I was such a Karen back then talking to the TV set & my brother can hear it. Karen says Thier walking on the floor and the TV camera is turned sideways.” Lee’s role as Kato?also gave fans one of the most insane anecdotes about his relationship with his co-stars.

When Lee’s refusal led to a change in the plot

A clash between the sidekicks, Robin and Kato, ensues during the crossover. A fight goes on, and the winner needed to emerge. However, upon reading the script for the scene, Lee reportedly disagreed with how the scene progressed. He didn’t want to look like an “idiot” in the end!

Turns out, the script demanded that Kato lose to Robin. Due to his image as a martial arts legend, Lee didn’t want his character to move on with a loss. He fought tooth and nail till the producer of the show relented and made a change in the script. After some modifications, it was established that the fight would end in a tie. Lee’s determination to stand up for himself and stay put with his demands made him a memorable figure in Hollywood.
