“I Got Two Phone Calls…”- Freddie Freeman Reveals the Real Reason He Left Atlanta Braves for La Dodgers

The recent few days have been the craziest in this free agency. Two of the top free agents of Major League Baseball, Freddie Freeman and Carlos Correa decided to move on from their former franchises. Both of them signed their new contract with the LA Dodgers and Minnesota Twins, respectively.

Talking about Freddie Freeman, the star first baseman is an absolute gentleman of the game. And yet his former team, the Atlanta Braves, didn’t respect him at the time when he needed it most.

Recently, after signing with the Dodgers, Freeman opened up about how the Braves didn’t even try to keep him at their side.

Earlier this week, Los Angeles Dodgers announced the signing of star free agent Freddie Freeman. With this new deal, Freeman’s era at the Braves finally ended. And just like the Braves fans, Freeman might have liked to stay at his former team.

However, it was the Atlanta Braves’ lack of interest in their superstar, that forced him to move on to the Dodgers. According to ESPN, after the 2021 season, there were no talks between the Braves and Freeman.

From December to March, Freeman only heard from them twice, one before the lockout and one in the current free agency. Freeman said he got more calls from the Dodgers’ President in a couple of hours than he got in the entire lockout and free agency.

“The communication wasn’t all there in the offseason,” Freeman said. “I got two phone calls. … I got more from [Dodgers president] Andrew [Friedman] to my agent in a matter of a couple hours.

While Freeman’s father also couldn’t believe it when the Braves acquired Matt Olson as a possible replacement for Freeman. His father said that they didn’t even tell Freeman they were moving on.

And these incidents were enough for Freeman to move on from his past and begin a new chapter with the LA Dodgers. With Freeman by their side, now the Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series this season.
