Minnesota Twins Star Carlos Correa Reveals Why Did He Switch to Jersey No. 4

Carlos Correa to the Minnesota Twins has to be one of the most surprising deals of this free agency. A couple of weeks ago, when free agency resumed in MLB, no one saw Correa signing for the Twins.

And like signing for the Twins was not enough, Correa has surprised his fans with another move. Yes, after switching his franchise, the superstar shortstop has decided to switch his jersey number too.

Now, after wearing No. 1 for years at his former franchise, Houston Astros, Correa will be wearing No. 4 for the Minnesota Twins.

For any sportsperson, jersey number plays a huge role in their career. For some, their jersey number becomes a kind of their identity. But that’s might not be the case for Carlos Correa. As he wants to move on from his past and start a new journey with the Twins.

Earlier on Wednesday, Correa revealed that he wanted to have a new number. Because it’s a new chapter for him and he is excited about this journey with the Twins. Correa also confirmed that there is no special meaning behind the change.

Talking to MLB Network, Correa said, “It’s a new chapter in our lives. I wanted to have a new number. We are excited for this new chapter in our lives. My wife and, we’re super stoked for this decision.”

Correa also shared his opinion on the Twins’ manager Rocco Baldelli. He said when he talked to Rocco, the two connected right away. And that was enough for the Puerto Rican to choose the Twins as his new home. He termed Rocco as an ‘excellent’ manager.

“When I talked to Rocco, we connected right away,” Carlos Correa said. “I have had some great managers in my career and one thing that I had with them was, great communication… And I could sense that from Rocco the way he communicated with me… It made me feel like, I was gonna be with another excellent manager.”
