Sha’Carri Richardson finally delivered on her promise to dominate the track upon her comeback. The legendary sprinter had disappeared from elite competitions after a series of setbacks. Now, she has returned to the track and field world and vindicated herself at the World Athletics Championships. But, to many, her victory has become more than just a personal triumph.

Sha’Carri Richardson ended the 100-meter finals on Monday in a remarkable time. She ran against two of Jamaica’s top sprinters, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson. In the post-race interview, the media remarked on the American’s performance, saying it has brought the two countries together. This remark did not sit well with Richardson for justifiable reasons, and she clapped back with an epic reply.

Sha’Carri Richardson faced the media after winning the 100-meter world title at the World Championships. She out-sprinted the eight other former champions running from lane 9. The superstar athlete zoomed past the finish line in 10.65 seconds, which became the new world record. However, the media overlooked her personal triumph and instead focused on how it unified America and Jamaica. Richardson was happy to act as the “glue that brings us together,” but she could not forget how she was charged with doing just the opposite. A popular Black Rights organization called ‘All on One Accord’ shared her statement on Twitter that read, “When I LOST… it was more so ‘this country is better than that country.’ But now all of the sudden I WON… it’s all about unity & sisterhood”. Richardson shared her frustration at the media’s representation of herself over the years.
